About Us
Music for Confidence, Creativity & Connection
Layston Music is a welcoming music teaching studio based near Royston, Hertfordshire and South Cambridgeshire, offering piano lessons, singing lessons and guitar lessons for children and adults. Founded by professional musician and teacher Talena Cuthbert, Layston Music provides personalised music tuition designed to build confidence, creativity and a lifelong love of music.

With over 20 years of teaching experience, Talena specialises in inclusive music education, supporting students of all abilities including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), SEMH needs and learning differences. Lessons focus on strong musical foundations, enjoyment of music, and personal progress, with options including graded music exams, songwriting, performance preparation and creative musicianship.
Students at Layston Music are given opportunities to perform in supportive concerts and community events, helping them grow in confidence and develop real musical experience.
Lessons are available in person near Royston or online, making high-quality music tuition accessible to families across Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire and surrounding areas.
Layston Music also runs The Singing Circle, a friendly community singing initiative that brings people together through music. From relaxed social singing events like Sing For Your Supper to group singing experiences and performances, The Singing Circle creates a welcoming environment where people of all abilities can sing, connect and enjoy music together.
